Academic Web Accessibility Team

Purpose

Academic Web Accessibility is a service of Digital Learning Innovations (DLI) that provides an array of services and resources related to distance and technology-enhanced learning as a unit of the Office of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.

Academic Web Accessibility exists to support faculty in creating an inclusive learning environment for all students, regardless of ability. In partnership with Student Disability Services and the Presidential Commission on Disability Strategies and Resources, we work to support the development of accessible online content, instruction, and assessment.

Presidential Commission

DLI’s Academic Web Accessibility staff works closely with the Presidential Commission on Disability Strategies and Resources, one of six presidential commissions established by the Division of Diverse and Inclusive Excellence at Kennesaw State University.  The presidential commission’s charge is to “recommend programs, strategies, initiatives, and resources to ensure that persons with disabilities are not confronted with barriers to full participation in all aspects related to university life and to ensure that the university's programs and services are inclusive to constituents with disabilities.”

As such, the commission is a valuable point of collaboration with other institutional stakeholders in maintaining an equitable and accessible environment at KSU.  The commission includes (or has included) representatives from many departments, including:

A few examples of the impact of the Presidential Commission on Disability Strategies and Resources are linked in the buttons below. The KSU Accessibility Resources Brochure was completed in Spring, 2021 and is intended to offer KSU students, faculty, and staff a quick guide to internal (university) and external accessibility resources. The Introduction to Student Disability Services for Advisors training module was completed in Spring, 2022 as a resource equipping advisors at KSU to better serve KSU students with disabilities.
